PROOFREADING

If you request the proofreading service, a PhD-qualified editor will conduct a comprehensive and detailed check through your draft copy that will highlight and repair issues relating to spelling, punctuation and grammar. We recommend this service to authors who although having a good command of the English language, also require a professional review to repair any remaining errors that may still exist, and so polish the overall document. Although conformity to your referencing style will also be maintained, no extensive changes to the writing style or syntax will be made at the proofreading level.

COPY-EDITING

At the copy-editing level, a PhD-qualified editor will apply the same detailed search for inaccuracies in spelling, punctuation and grammar as found at the proofreading level. However, the document will also be developed from a stylistic and syntactic perspective. As a result of this enhanced process, appropriate synonyms will be inserted where words are repeatedly used in close proximity, while sentences will be merged through linking structures and rephrased if necessary. Through this process, the document’s written standard is improved and elevated to the level of a native English reader’s expectations.
